Welcome to the Office of Emergency Management

The Grayson County Office of Emergency Management is responsible for establishing a comprehensive, threat-, hazard- and risk-based emergency management program that encompasses all of our citizens and communities as well as our natural and man-made resources.

In addition to coordinating effective unified responses to disasters and emergencies, we also work hard to prepare our communities and where possible, mitigate the consequences of these incidents.  When an event does impact Grayson County, we are prepared engage our local, state and federal resources and partners to help our communities to recover and prosper.

While we plan for all hazards, Grayson County is particularly vulnerable to significant weather events year-round including river basin and flash flooding, high winds and tornado activity, ice and snow.  In recent years, earthquake activity has increased in frequency and magnitude.  Shifting climate patterns are making Grayson County more susceptible to drought and wildfire activity.  Finally, while ours is a calm and peaceful community, we must ensure that we are prepared for potential civil disruptions and terrorist acts.

Grayson County is recognized by the National Weather Services as StormReady county for our actions to prepare for and educate our citizens for severe storms.
